THE TWILIGHT 5K RUN/WALK

The Twilight weekend of sporting events kicks off early Saturday morning with the Twilight 5k Run/Walk Presented by Athens Running Company. This run/walk is open to participants of all athletic levels, starting and finishing in downtown Athens. The course is flat for the first 2K and has a couple rolling hills between 2K and 4K. It finishes fairly flat. There are age graded categories and awards for men and women.

Classes are:

• 14 and under
• 15-19
• 20-24
• 25-29
• 30-34
• 35-39
• 40-44
• 45-49
• 50-54
• 55-59
• 60+

The Twilight 5K Run/Walk is the largest 5K in Athens and we want participants to enjoy it even more by entering the Team Challenge. Gather a team and enter the team challenge.

1. Send an email to Mark Schroeder of Athens Running Company with team name and contact information.
2. Register for the race.  Enter the official team name in the Team Name box.
3. Get 30 team members registered by April 15 and t-shirts will be printed with the team's name.
4. The team with the most team members will be able to attend the "Runners' High" reception on top of the College Avenue Parking Deck from 5:00 PM to 7:00 on Saturday at the Twilight.
5. For teams with at least 30 members, four team members may attend the "Runners' High" reception.
6. All teams may have a 10'x10' space on Washington Street at City Hall at the end of the 5K for a gathering.

THE $1000 MILE

Saturday night, the top fifteen men and top fifteen women from the Twilight 5K will compete for $1,000 in prize money on the Twilight Criterium course in the Twilight $1,000 Mile Presented by Athens Running Company. Staging for this event is at the third turn at the intersection of Thomas Street and Washington Street.  Runners should be in this area to be staged by 7:00 PM.
