Luke Keough (Team Mountain Khakis/SmartStop) and Erica Allar (RIDECLEAN/Patentit.com) scored impressive wins at the 2012 Terrapin Twilight in Athens, GA. The race, which was attended by tens of thousands of fans on the weekend of April 28th, saw a tremendous amount of action for both fields, leaving spectators biting their nails until the final moments of racing.

Keough, who was the 2011 USA CRITS Series Champion, had to rely on the strength and race savvy of his squad throughout the evening in order not to lose his chance at deploying his powerful sprint. As he came to the line he just edged out local favorite John Murphy (Kenda/5-hour Energy Pro Cycling presented by Geargrinder) for the victory. Emile Abraham (Rosetti Devo Cycling Team) took a close third.

In the women’s event, Laura Van Gilder and her Mellow Mushroom/Rose Bandit Racing squad fought valiantly to control every move throughout the evening and set up the veteran sprinter for the win, but a well-timed burst of speed by Allar brought the RIDECLEAN team the win.

Currently Allar holds onto a comfortable lead in the race for the USA CRITS’ Orange leader’s jersey, while local Athens resident Oscar Clark (United Healthcare of Georgia p/b The 706 Project) retains his top position in the overall following his win at the Presbyterian Hospital Invitational Criterium.
